If it looks good we are more likely to want to try it. It’s just common sense, am I right?

In the expeirence of this author, presentation is the key to pleasing any lucky recipient of dessert (or any other dish). There are a plethora of special techniques you can use to get creative with the design of the dish. Drizzling chocolate, or garnishing the plate with spices, mint leaves, or fruit slices is one way. Another is to create a chocolate bowl to hold the dessert. This is referred to as the balloon technique. First, boil chocolate until it’s melted. Quickly inflate a balloon while you let the hot chocolate cool a little. Pour a small amount of chocolate onto wax paper for use as a base for the bowl. When it’s warm, dip the balloon in the chocolate and roll it around so that at least the half of it creates a dome. Let the covered portion rest on the wax paper until it hardens–you may need to put it in the fridge. Once the bowl is solid you can pop the balloon and remove it.

You can also decorate your desserts with the standards–icing, candy, cookie crumbs, chocolate syrup, you name it. Practically everything goes as long as you do it in an organized and thought-out manner. It’s vitally important one takes the time to evenly space any and all decorations. Plan out the design before you start a project instead of spontaneously doing it in the last few minutes before serving.If you’re struggling for ideas look through baking magazines or look online for ideas. Like delicious perfume, the rose-like aroma of this wine is intoxicating. And like the flower it resembles, it is delicate, too, and needs the right temperature to shine. Douse it with too much heat on a summer day or too heavy a food during winter and it will bruise and be crushed. Instead, allow the crispness and fruitiness to mingle with equally heady dishes like a Thai dish of curry or a ginger-marinated seafood plate.

Riesling

For those with a sweet tooth, the varying array of rieslings on the market are the perfect warm weather red wine pick. Ranging from dry (labeled as Kabinett) to super sweet dessert wine (labeled as Trockenbeerenauslese) with a variety of options in between, even the driest options still have a touch of sugar on the tongue. Known for their acidic blend of fruit and mineral flavors, they are light without seeming flat or boring. Germany holds the belt for most popular production area (the Mosel area is simply covered in vines of the stuff), but you can look closer to home for this beauty. New York’s Finger Lakes region is home to a number of quite good riesling vineyards that produce mellow and almost effervescent versions of the wine. And at a really affordable price point, too.

Sangiovese

Okay so you are a red wines kind of drinker. No amount of sunny days and warm breezes are going to make you drink a white wine. Respect. But choose wisely. A standard Cab or heavy Bordeaux blend can be too hot to handle in the heat. Go light but still rich and earthy with sangiovese. Jammy and a touch spicy, it’s the grape behind the storied Italian Chianti, although you can by versions from all over the world now. And if little old Italian men can sit outside in the southern heat and down jugs of this for lunch, then by all means you can handle a glass or two. Continue your Tuscan-style experience by matching it with a food that’s rustic and earthy, like a grilled steak or stuffed mushrooms.

By using a blend of different beans before roasting it makes it difficult to copy by rivals. The two major varieties of coffee beans are robusta and arabica. Coffee robusta is also widely known as Coffee canephora, and accounts for nearly 20% of coffee production worldwide. The other 80% of coffee production is of the Arabica variety but there is an amazing range of coffee bean flavours and qualities grown throughout the temperate coffee growing regions, with most of these varieties named after the region where they are predominately found.

The arabica beans are grown at temperature ranging between 15 and 24 degree Celsius, whilst the robusta beans are grown at temperatures between 24 and 30 degree Celsius. The coffee plant cherries are usually handpicked when ripe, using either selective picking or strip picking. The cherries are processes shortly after picking. The beans are then processed using either wet processing or dry processing. Wet processing is widely used in by the major commercial producers in Asia and South America, whilst dry processing – being cheaper and simpler – is quite common in the Central American region and niche plantations in Africa.

When cutting back on the amount of sodium in your diet you will be more successful if you reduce it slowly. People get used to the flavor of salt and may find foods less desirable at first. This will change over time and will allow you to really begin to taste the foods you are eating instead of just the salt. Start by making changes that you and your family will notice the least. Using less salt in baked goods and only buying low or no sodium canned goods and frozen foods are a good place to start. Canned soups that are low in sodium can have a pretty bland flavor, but can be easily doctored up with some no salt seasoning. Use a variety of salt free seasonings to increase flavor, and include a salt substitute. This can really make a difference. After you put a low sodium diet into practice for a while your taste buds will adjust and you will find many foods will actually taste better.

With healthy cooking it is important to remember that reducing your salt intake to zero is not the goal. Vegetables and leafy greens contain sodium as part of their natural ingredients and our bodies require sodium to function. What is important is that you remain at or a little below the recommended daily sodium intake levels. The amount of sodium that experts recommend is less than 2300 mg per day, if you are 51 years of age or over that amount drops to 1500 mg per day.

Most of the food prepared in restaurants is heavily laden with sodium, people like the taste of salt and it is the cheapest seasoning available. When eating out it is important to try to order items that contain a minimal amount of salt. To be serious about your health means that most of you meals should consist of healthy cooking at home. When learning to prepare meals, try using canned and processed foods as little as possible. Attempt to prepare meals that focus around whole foods, more fresh and natural foods that are low in sodium. Good choices are fresh fruits, vegetables, and salads. A good meal choice might be whole-wheat pasta topped with a low sodium tomato sauce prepared with a salt free garlic-herb seasoning and a nice green salad.

Tip: If you make your own tomato based pasta sauce, make sure to purchase salt free or no salt added canned tomatoes, (if not using fresh tomatoes).The large amount of sodium in an average diet is an acquired taste, so getting used to food without sodium will take some time. Cutting out salt cold turkey will leave you with bland tasting foods that may have you reaching for the salt shaker. Take your time as you and your family start adjusting to this new healthier way of eating. The recent burst in cupcake popularity may seem a little perplexing at first.
